Monyuri is a Brazilian art director, artist, and illustrator based in London. Having lived and worked across Brazil, the Middle East, and the UK, her art is shaped by different cultures, places, and personal experiences. Her interest in ancestral cultures also comes from home. Her father worked for many years alongside Indigenous communities in Brazil, travelled extensively along the São Francisco River, and was involved in environmental work, experiences that became part of the cultural landscape she grew up around. Motherhood, a long career in advertising, and the places she has lived continue to inform her practice. Indigenous, African and Japanese references often appear in her work, reimagined through bold, unexpected colour. Working across woodcut, collage, digital painting, and hand-painting techniques, she blends traditional craft with technology to create expressive pieces with a strong human presence.
