Surfing - GAHO

A single wave sweeps across the picture as a wide S-curve, dark navy below, bright turquoise in the body and a ridge of white foam along the crest. Above it the sky is flat burning yellow, and a small black surfer stands on the shoulder of the wave at the top right.

Painted in oil with a palette knife, the ridged impasto standing up where the foam breaks. GAHO graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels and paints landscapes and everyday scenes in intense colour, with strong contrasts of light and shadow. Available as a poster or fine art canvas print in multiple sizes.
