The Joy — De Vreugde - Motaz Nader

A face fills the whole canvas in flat turquoise, drawn with two arched brows in red and pink, a short vertical nose and a single red line for the mouth. A row of small marks runs along the top edge, and pink and lilac show through at the sides where the paint thins.

Painted in thin, dry strokes that let the ground show through, with the face reduced to a handful of marks. Motaz Nader is a Syrian poet, playwright and thinker based in the Netherlands, who has published five poetry collections and writes on intellectual subjects. Available as a poster or fine art canvas print in multiple sizes.
